I am writing in bed, snuggly tucked under my sheets, beside the wringing humidifier and under the warm light of our bedside lamp.

Being single almost never entitled someone to celebrate valentines, but for years I have been celebrating with my friends. Being away from home, I never expected I will.

But we did.

We ended Valentines Day by sharing dinner. It was one hell of a fun night. I guess the greatest bond is shared through feasting on sumptuous food. I am very thankful for these people. Valentine’s day was not lonesome at all.

Yesterday we spent the afternoon walking around the university and running around the lake. It felt so peaceful and calming; watching the waves while the sun slowly sets before you.

There are children playing accompanied by their parents. A dad, in particular, was encouraging his son to be courageous enough to go down the slope. Lovers were lying, watching the clouds pass them by. Being there makes me feel at ease.

Kind people do add up to the way you appreciate life and the happiness you feel inside. The simple greeting, a smile and sincere words of appreciation. An old lady by the grocery stopped just to tell us we were beautiful. It is quite nice to be reminded, especially when you yourself do not feel the words beautiful on that day.

Tonight we cooked and shared a fancy dinner while jazz and laughter filled the air.
