Dream.
” What do you want to be when you grow up?”
And as you grow you develope this sense of making something worthwhile in this world.
Some are lucky to know it as young as 8.
Work on it.
Over and over.
Those kids grow up and became adults.
Some got lucky and somehow the gates of heaven opened and they are able to fullfill and get to do it their entire lives.
But there are also a bunch who are on the other side of the spectrum.
Their parents kept telling them,
” You’ll end up broke and lonely. Get a decent job.”
So they did.
The stubborn ones will get a job but won’t let the day job consume them and take over their lives.
They would spend their time relentlessly working on the dream.
First cost: Time
Work to survive. Work to dream.
Second cost: Relationship.
Only a few good ones will truly stick around a bastard who forgets birthdays and say no to party and having a good time. Who doesn’t answer calls and always says next time.
Third cost: Living.
At a point they won’t be able to afford a vacation, they will live with a roommate on a not so decent condition, they won’t buy good food to save, they won’t go out because at this point, nothing has really worked out that pays good money.
Pursuing a dream, with so much love and dedication without getting anything in return is frustrating, on top of it it takes money out of you, it sometimes make you broke for a very long time.
“Why does something I do with so much love can’t bring food to the table?”
“Should I just quit and do something else that pays?”
“Am I really good enough for this?”
” Is it worth all this sacrifice”
Only time can tell.
But one thing is for sure, one needs atleast one person to believe.
Support.
Someone who would say,
” Keep throwing against the wall until one sticks”
Or someone who would grab you in middle of giving up and say,
” You’re great at what you do, you’re one and only”
To the dreamers who keep pushing against the tide, I hope you feel the ground you stand on and say to yourself
” I made it.”
